Here we highlight some of the successful projects funded by the Biofortification Hub and is an opportunity to thank our partners from Academia and Industry for their excellent contribution to advance Biofortification research in the UK.
Collaboration between the University of Aberdeen Rowett Institute and Duncan Farms Limited to produce eggs with improved nutritional content: “Elevating Omega-3 Fatty Acid, Vitamin E and Microelement content of Eggs, supporting Diet, Climate and Biodiversity Targets (lOVEMEggs)” (Business Interact Voucher – 2023).
Collaboration between the Quadram Institute, AB-Mauri and Bay State Milling to produce sandwich bread with improved fibre profile: “Applications of high-amylose wheat flour to deliver healthier ready-to-eat sandwich bread” (Business Interact Voucher – 2023).
Work placement of Ikeoluwa Adekoya from NHS Scotland (Edinburgh) at the John Innes Centre (Norwich, UK). 3-month project on “Biofortified tomatoes provide a new route to Vitamin D sufficiency” (Flexible Mobility Award – 2025).
